Get Your Print: "Mandy's Blossoms"
"MANDY'S BLOSSOMS" - 8 X 10
Our photographer Greg, has officially given Mandy a new home, along with the two other dogs he has rescued in the past. Mandy has completed her bigger heartworm treatments, and is expected to recover fully. Over time we received a few donations from well wishers who wanted to help out with her medical expenses, and we would like to thank all of them for their help, as well as those who sent encouraging emails. Greg went out and recently took the above photo, and we felt it represents Mandy. Just as Springtime brings new life to flowers, Mandy now is starting over and has a new life. Greg has therefore titled this photo "Mandy's Blossoms". We are no longer accepting donations for Mandy's fund, as between what we have raised, and paid out of our own pockets, her biggest medical bills have now been paid. We are now offering the Mandy Blossom print for sale. All sales of this particular print will go exclusively to the upkeep and medical expenses of Mandy, and her two "sisters" (other rescued dogs). Below is an area where you can place your order via a secure service called "Paypal" with your credit card or debit card. There are two ways to receive your copy of Mandy's Blossoms - for $10.00, you can get a full sized full resolution (6 megapixel) image, which you can keep on your hard drive and print out any way you like for personal use. For $22.00, you can have an 8 x 10 print mailed to you (shipping included in price) anywhere with a U.S. postal address. These are done via a traditional lab (not ink), and are suitable for framing. If you wish to mail an order the old fashioned way, instead of using the link below, click HERE and we'll email you directions and an address where you can mail them. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Questions & AnswersHere are some commonly-asked questions and answers we've received about the donations, Mandy, and in general...
Question: "Once you reach your goal in paying off Mandy's medical bills, where will extra money go?"Answer: Updated answer: The goal was reached, so please read above on how to get your copy of Mandy's Blossoms.
Question: "How can I tell if my dog has heartworm?" Answer: Your veterinarian will have to do a test. Most include this test when you take your dogs in for their yearly shots, but ask to make sure. If the dog comes back "negative", you simply give them a once-a-month pill and it will help prevent them from getting it. If they are "positive", they will need to undergo treatment like Mandy is now. Treatments can be hard on the dog, and the dog cannot run or play heavily for a long time during the treatment period, making it hard on the owers too, but if left untreated, the dog will eventually die from it as the worms will invade and infest their heart and/or lungs. You can visit the national Heartworm web site by clicking HERE to get more info.
Question: "I have to ask - why do you go through this much trouble for a dog??" Answer: The better question is... why NOT? Mandy is a sweet dog. She is smart, and will come up and rest her head in your lap as if to say "thank you". There is absolutely no reason NOT to help her. It's certainly not her fault she's sick, and not her fault someone probably dumped her, either. According to the vet, she is otherwise in very good health and could live for many years once the heartworm is treated. There are certainly a lot of strays that are a "lost cause" and cannot be helped... maybe due to their being aggressive or mean, not able to train, etc., but rare dogs like this one are housebroken, low-key, and very affectionate. All they need is a good new home. So again, why would you NOT try at least to help her out? We're a pretty self-absorbed society now... try helping out something that can't help itself and see how you can make a difference. To be selfish we guess, it makes you feel good, too.
Question: "We'd like to adopt Mandy. Is this possible?" Answer: At this point, no. Mandy has been living in Greg's home throughout her heartworm treatment, and while caring for several dogs can be taxing on a person, they're attached. She's very much at home now, and in a new set "routine", and up heaving her again would only be stressful on the dog. Plus the fact that several hundred dollars has been spent already on her treatment via a few donations and lots of out-of-pocket expenses, she's staying put.
